COMPOSITION:
Benzyl benzoate
 emulsion 25 g/100 mL (25% m/v).
PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION:
A 13.2 Anti-scabies medicines.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
ASCABIOL is used for the treatment of scabies and of pediculosis. In scabies it affords rapid relief from itching.
INDICATIONS:
ASCABIOL is an efficient acaricide and is used in the treatment of scabies. Ascabiol is also indicated in the treatment of
pediculosis.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Treatment of Scabies:
1. Take a hot bath and rub the affected areas thoroughly with a flannel, using soap. The finger and toe nails should be
cut short.
2. After drying, apply the liquid to the whole body except the face and head. The best method is to paint the liquid on
with a flat, soft paint brush of about 5 centimeters wide. Every part of the body from neck to toes should be covered. It
is particularly important that the application should be thoroughly made to the affected areas and the fingers and
nails. Special attention should be paid to the toes, wrists, ankles, armpits, buttocks and groin.
3. After painting, the body is allowed to dry, which, in a warm room, takes five to ten minutes. After this the patient can
get dressed. It is desirable but not essential, to put on clean underclothing and to have clean night garments and bed
linen.
4. Discarded undergarments and linen are effectively disinfected by the ordinary process of washing and ironing.
5. Provided it is thorough, the single application of the liquid should suffice. A second painting can be made three or
four days after the first, to ensure complete eradication of scabies.
