3 PHARMACEUTICAL FORM
Lozenges.
Off-white, round, plain lozenge with a menthol/eucalyptus flavour.
4 CLINICAL PARTICULARS
4.1 THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS
Symptomatic relief of sore throats and nasal congestion
4.2 POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION
Oral.
ADULTS AND CHILDREN OVER 6 YEARS
One lozenge every 3 hours. Allow the lozenge to dissolve slowly in the mouth.
4.3 CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to cetylpyridinium chloride and menthol.
4.4 SPECIAL WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Label states: If symptoms persist or become worse, consult your doctor.
4.5 INTERACTION WITH OTHER MEDICINAL PRODUCTS AND OTHER FORMS OF INTERACTION
None known.

4.6 PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
There is no adequate or inadequate evidence of safety of cetylpyridinium chloride in human pregnancy but it has been
in wide use for many years without apparent ill consequence. No data are available on the use of Merocets Plus in
pregnancy or lactation.
4.7 EFFECTS ON ABILITY TO DRIVE AND USE MACHINES
None known.
4.8 UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS
Very rare reports of urticaria. Infrequent complaints of transient burning sensation of the mouth.
4.9 OVERDOSE
No experience of overdose, but normal procedure of gastric lavage and maintenance of respiration and circulation
should apply.
