EXCOR is a paracorporeal (extracorporeal), pneumatically driven ventricular assist device. It is designed to support the left, right, or both ventricles (use as LVAD, RVAD or BVAD) when the native heart is unable to maintain an adequate flow of blood and blood pressure, even under pharmacologic support or invasive forms of intensive care (e.g., IABP, ECMO). The device is designed to provide medium-term to long-term mechanical support.
