Each dose should be mixed well with feed or may be mixed to a paste and given directly via the mouth. One level scoop contains 5g sulfadimidine and 1g trimethoprim. Recommended dose rates are based on 30mg/kg body weight of combined active ingredients twice daily. Administer one scoop per 200kg bodyweight twice daily. General Directions: Sulfadimidine is a pyrimidine sulfonamide antimicrobial agent. RLP APPROVED Trimethoprim is a diaminopyrimidine antimicrobial agent. The combination of these two agents blocks two sequential steps in microbial synthesis of folate. This creates a synergistic action which enhances the antimicrobial activity of the combination when compared to the individual components. This imparts some significant advantages in clinical application: - the combination is bacteriocidal while each drug alone is bacteriostatic. - t h e spectrum of antibacterial activity is broadened. - mini mum inhibitory concentrations are lower than each agent alone. Sulfadimidine and trimethoprim are readily absorbed following oral administrat Llegiu el document complet
