Date of revision WHAT PHARMANIAGA ATENOLOL TABLET IS USED FOR Pharmaniaga Atenolol Tablet is used to treat: : hypertension (high blood pressure) angina pectoris (chest pain or discomfort) acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) cardiac arrhythmias (irregular heart rhythm). HOW PHARMANIAGA ATENOLOL TABLET WORKS Atenolol belongs to a family of medicines called beta blockers. It works by slowing down or decreasing the heart’s need for blood and oxygen. This results in reduced workload for the heart. BEFORE YOU USE PHARMANIAGA ATENOLOL TABLET _-When you must not use it _ Do not take Pharmaniaga Atenolol Tablet if: you are allergic to atenolol or any of the excipients you have cardiogenic shock ( failure of pump action of the heart). you have heartblock you have overt cardiac failure (heart failure) you have sinus bradycardia (a regular but usually slow heartbeat) or reversible obstructive airways disease. _-Before you start to use it_ Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Pharmaniaga Atenolol Tablet if: You have asthma, wheezing or any other similar breathing problems, or you get allergic reactions, for example to insect stings. If you have ever had asthma or wheezing, do not take this medicine without first checking with your doctor. You have a type of chest pain (angina) called prinzmetal’s angina.
