47517 - Arm rehabilitation system
Bimeo PRO is a passive device consisting only of wireless inertial and force sensors. To promote affected arm movement, the system exploits the preserved patient's motor functions. The less affected limb can assist the movements of the more affected limb, while its contribution is continuously measured and evaluated. Data collected from sensors attached to the user is wirelessly transmitted to a computer. The user interacts with a virtual environment adapted for motor rehabilitation therapy. Voluntary activation of the affected limb is maximized by adaptation of the therapy scenario. An expert system acquires and evaluates information on the status and progress of the user. Information is immediately available to clinicians in order to optimize therapy parameters. The Bimeo PRO system was designed to combine intensive and safe unimanual and bimanual therapy with the capability of objective assessment and cognitive visual and auditory feedback that characterize rehabilitation robots.
