CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 INDICATIONS

_RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTIONS _
For example, acute and chronic bronchitis, infected bronchiectasis,
bacterial pneumonia, lung abscess and post-operative chest infections.

_EAR, NOSE AND THROAT INFECTIONS _
For example, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis and otitis media.

_URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS _
For example, acute and chronic pyelonephritis, cystitis and
asymptomatic bacteriuria.

_SOFT TISSUE INFECTIONS _
For example, cellulitis, erysipelas, peritonitis and wound infections.

_BONE AND JOINT INFECTIONS _
For example, osteomyelitis and septic arthritis.

4.2 DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
GENERAL DOSAGE RECOMMENDATIONS

_ADULTS _
Many infections will respond to 750 mg three times daily by IM or IV
injection. For more
severe infections, this dose should be increased to 1.5 g three times
daily. IV. The
frequency of IM or IV injections can be increased to six-hourly if
necessary, giving total
doses of 3 g to 6 g daily.

_INFANTS AND CHILDREN _
Doses of 30 to 100 mg/kg/day given as three or four divided doses. A
dose of 60
mg/kg/day will be appropriate for most infections.

Doses of 30 to 100 mg/kg/day given as two or three divided doses. In
