OF ACTION
Ketoprofen is a nonsteroidal
anti-inflammatory
drug
(NSAID)
beionging
to
the
propionic acid subclass
of
carboxylic acid
derivative
NSAIDs.
NSAID's
generally
exert
three
main pharmacological
effects:
anti-
inflammatory,
analgesic,
and antipyretic.
The
primary
mechanism
of
action is
inhibition
of
prostaglandin synthesis
through
interference
with
the
cyclooxygenase
pathway
of
arachidonic acid metabolism.
INDICATIONS
.
CATTLE
Treatment
of
acute
inflammation
and pain
of
various
origins
including
respiratory disease,
musculoskeletal
conditions,
mammary
oedema and
ephemeral
fever.
HORSES
Treatment
of
acute
inflammation
and pain
of
various origins including
especially due to musculoskeletal
disorders,
post-surgical
inflammation
and pain,
and pain associated
with
colic provided surgical
intervention
is
not
required.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
This
product
is
contra-indicated
for
use in
pregnant
mares
