However, it does not have narcotic action nor does it depress respiration. Chlorpheniramine maleate is an antihistamine compound with a high degree of potency and relative absence of undesirable side effects. As well as suppressing allergic reactions associated with respiratory infections, it has mildly sedative properties. Ephedrine is a sympathomimetic drug with an action similar to adrenaline although more prolonged. It acts as a bronchodilator and has been used to relieve cough in bronchial spasm in dogs. INDICATIONS Cough suppression in dogs and cats. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION LARGE DOGS: 5 to 10 mL, 2 or 3 times daily. SMALL DOGS, CATS: 2.5 mL, 2 or 3 times daily.
