Medica throat spray menthol is a spray for local action in the mouth and the pharynx. It is an antiseptic and local pain-killer. Medica throat spray menthol is recommended for: - The treatment of the symptoms of a sore throat, red throat, disorders of the pharynx accompanied by irritation. - In case of a bacterial infection accompanied by fever, an additional treatment is necessary. - Medica throat spray menthol is sugar-free and is therefore also suited for diabetics. 2. BEFORE YOU USE MEDICA THROAT SPRAY MENTHOL. DO NOT USE MEDICA THROAT SPRAY MENTHOL … - If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to chlorhexidine gluconate or lidocaine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of Medica throat spray menthol. - On children younger than 6 years old. SPC MEDICA THROAT SPRAY MENTHOL, 20 MG/10 ML; 5 MG/10 ML, OROMUCOSAL SPRAY Chlorhexidine gluconate 20 mg/10 ml - Lidocaine hydrochloride 5 mg/10 ml 1. NAME OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT Medica throat spray menthol, 20 mg/10 ml; 5 mg/10 ml, oromucosal spray 2. QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION 1 spray contains ± 0,18 mg chlorhexidine gluconate and ± 0,04 mg lidocaine hydrochloride. For a full list of excipients, see section 6.1. 3. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Oromucosal spray 4. CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS - Symptomatic and local treatment at the pharynx. Proposed as disinfectant and local pain reliever of sore throat and disorders of the pharynx accompanied by irritation. The presence of lidocaine causes a quick alleviation of the symptoms. - In case of a bacterial infection accompanied by fever, a supplementary treatment is required. - Medica throat spray menthol is sugarfree and is therefore also suited for diabetics. 4.2 POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION _Adults and children from 12 years old:_ 3 to 5 sprays per time, 6 to 10 times per day. _Children from 6 years old:_ 2 to 3 sprays per time, 3 to 5 times per day. This medicine is intended as symptomatic treatment and may not be used long-term. If there is no improvement within 3 to 4 days, it is advisable to consult a doctor. 4.3 CONTRAINDICATIONS - Children younger than 6 years. - Hypersensitivity to one of the active ingredients of this medicine and in particular to local anaesthetics such as lidocaine. SPC 4.4 SPECIAL WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS FOR USE - Disinfecting substances do not make sterile; they temporarily reduce the number of micro- organisms at the oral cavity and pharynx. - Restrict the use of this medicine to the strictly necessary alleviation of existing pain and irritation.
