FOUR IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE PILL.

The Pill will not protect you against sexually transmitted diseases.

This medicine can increase your risk of problems such as blood clots
and breast cancer.

Some women should not take the Pill because of current medical
problems or illnesses.
Please read this leaflet to make sure Norgeston is right for you.

To prevent pregnancy it is important to take Norgeston as instructed
and start each pack on
time. Please make sure that you understand what to do if you miss a
pill or if you think you
are pregnant.

What Norgeston does
Norgeston is an oral contraceptive pill (the ‘mini Pill’). YOU
TAKE IT TO STOP YOU GETTING PREGNANT.
Norgeston contains a type of female sex hormone, called a progestogen.
This hormone stops you
getting pregnant by working in three ways: by making the fluid (mucus)
in your cervix thicker,

Each tablet contains:

3. Pharmaceutical form
Sugar-coated tablets
The tablets are biconvex, round and 5 mm in diameter.
4. Clinical particulars
4.1 Therapeutic indications
Oral contraception.
4.2 Posology and method of administration
_First treatment cycle: _One tablet daily, starting on the first day
of the menstrual cycle, at a time of day
chosen by the patient. All subsequent tablets must then be taken at
this time. The contraceptive effect is
likely to be reduced if a tablet is delayed by more than three hours.
Additional contraceptive precautions
are not necessary when initiating treatment.
_Subsequent cycles:_ The tablets are taken daily and pack follows pack
without interruption, and without
regard to bleeding.
_Changing from a combined oral contraceptive (COC):_ The first tablet
of Norgeston should be taken on
the first day after the last active tablet of the COC pack (In the
case of every day (ED) tablet use, the
inactive ones should be omitted). Additional contraceptive precautions
are not required.
_Changing from another POP: _The switch can be made at any time
without interruption of contraceptive
protection.
_Changing from a progestogen-only parenteral method (implant,
injection):_ The switch should be made
before or when the next injection or implant is due.
_Post-partum use:_ Norgeston can be initiated up to 21 days
post-partum (no additional contraceptive is
required). If started after 21 days additional barrier contraceptive
methods should be used for 7 days.
However, if intercourse has already occurred, pregnancy should be
excluded before the actual start of
Norgeston use or the woman has to wait for her first menstrual period.
