ILIUM VET PACK V4 22 .1 0 .2 013 Front Panel Prescription Animal Remedy Keep Out of Reach of Children For Animal Treatment Only ILIUM Cephalexin 600 for Dogs ACTIVE CONSTITUENT: Each tablet contains 600 mg CEPHALEXIN (as CEPHALEXIN MONOHYDRATE) For the treatment of bacterial infections caused by cephalexin sensitive organisms including: • Infections of skin and soft tissue • Respiratory tract infections • Upper and lower urinary tract infections • Arthritis caused by susceptible micro-organisms 50 or 100 Tablets (5 or 10 foil packs containing 10 tablets each , with dispensing bags) Back Panel DIRECTIONS FOR USE Precautions: Avoid use in animals with a history of acute allergy to penicillin. RLP Ap proved Adverse Reactions: Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea may occasionally occur and allergic reactions may be observed but these effects are unusual and transitory. Interactions: Cephalosporins combined with an aminoglycoside antibiotic or potent loop diuretic, e.g. frusemide, may increase the probability of nephrotoxicity beyond that experienced when either drug is used alone. Dosage and Administration: Dogs: Administer Cephalexin at a dose rate of 15 mg/kg bodyweight twice daily (i.e. 1 tablet per 40 kg bodyweight morning and night) until at least 48 hours after clinical signs have subsided. Genitourinary tract infections should be treated for a minimum of 7 days. Cephalexin is effective against most Gram-positive aerobic cocci and several Gram-negative bacteria including Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis and Klebsiella.
