It does not contain all of the available information. It does not take the place of talking to your doctor or pharmacist. Your doctor may have prescribed MUPIROCIN LUPIN OINTMENT for another reason. MUPIROCIN LUPIN OINTMENT is available only with a doctor's prescription. There is no evidence that MUPIROCIN LUPIN OINTMENT is addictive. LUPIN OINTMENT when breastfeeding. IF YOU ARE USING MUPIROCIN LUPIN OINTMENT ON A CRACKED NIPPLE, WASH THE NIPPLE WELL BEFORE BREAST FEEDING YOUR BABY. What Mupirocin LUPIN Ointment is used for MUPIROCIN LUPIN OINTMENT contains mupirocin (2% w/w) as the active ingredient. MUPIROCIN LUPIN OINTMENT is used for treatment of mild impetigo (school sores). MUPIROCIN LUPIN OINTMENT is for use on your skin only. MUPIROCIN LUPIN OINTMENT belongs to a group of medicines called antibiotics. Antibiotics work by killing bacteria which can cause infection. ASK YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT WHY THIS MEDICINE HAS BEEN PRESCRIBED FOR YOU. 1 AUSTRALIAN PRODUCT INFORMATION – MUPIROCIN LUPIN (MUPIROCIN) 20 MG/G (2% W/W) OINTMENT 1 NAME OF THE MEDICINE Mupirocin 2 QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION Each gram of mupirocin ointment contains 20 mg of mupirocin (2% w/w) as the active ingredient. For the full list of excipients, see Section 6.1 List of excipients. 3 PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Mupirocin Lupin ointment, is a white, semi-transparent, homogeneous ointment. 4 CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 T HERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS Mupirocin Lupin is indicated for the topical treatment of mild impetigo. 4.2 D OSE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION Mupirocin Lupin is intended for topical application only. A small amount of mupirocin ointment should be applied to the affected area three times daily. The area treated may be covered with a gauze dressing if desired. Usually treatment should not continue for more than 10 days. Any product remaining at the end of treatment should be discarded. 4.3 C ONTRAINDICATIONS Mupirocin Lupin is contraindicated in patients who have demonstrated hypersensitivity to mupirocin, mupirocin calcium, or any components of the formulations. 4.4 S PECIAL WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS FOR USE If a reaction suggesting sensitivity or chemical irritation should occur with the use of Mupirocin Lupin, treatment should be discontinued, the product should be wiped off and appropriate alternative therapy for the infection instituted. Mupirocin Lupin is not suitable for ophthalmic use, intranasal use or application to other mucosal surfaces. Avoid contact with eyes. If contaminated, the eyes should be thoroughly irrigated with water until the residues have been removed. Mupirocin Lupin is not suitable for application to the site of cannulation or for use in conjunction with cannulae. 2 As with other antibacterial products, prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, including fungi. Appropriate measures should be taken if this occurs. Pseudomembranous colitis has been reported with the use of antibiotics and may range in severity from mild Perskaitykite visą dokumentą
