PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
ISOPRINOSINE® tablet appears as white-rounded tablet with imprinted
ISOPRINOSINE /NP at one
side and breakline at the other side, bitter taste, and odorless.
Methisoprinol
is
a
chemical
complex
formed
from
inosine
and
an
aminoalcohol,
dimethylaminoisopropanolol at a 1:3 ratio. It is a white powder,
slightly bitter, water soluble, and
stable in a neutral solution. This complex was discovered by Gordon,
Glasky, Lynes, and Doty,
American researchers. ISOPRINOSINE® increases protein and
nucleoprotein synthesis; preserves
the structure and function of the polyribosomes; inhibits
ribonucleases; reinforces polyribosome
function; interferes with the genetic transfer of the virus to the
polyribosome of the host cell and
in this way stops viral multiplication. From the clinical studies made
by Argentine researchers
emerges the non-specific antiviral action of wide spectrum (Ink,
Antonini, Andres, Stefano, and
others).
INDICATIONS
For the treatment of recurrent genitalia herpes and herpes labialis
occurring within 3 months.
POSOLOGY
Adults: An average of 50 mg/kg BW/day. This dosage can be increased up
to 100 mg/kg BW/day
with maximum dose is 3–4 g/day. All use in divided doses three to
four times a day, for a
maximum of 10 days.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients
listed in the leaflet.
ISOPRINOSINE® should not be given to patients with gout and high
serum uric acid levels.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
Since it has an evident slight cardiac effect, care should be taken
when administering to cardiac
patients under digitalis.
ISOPRINOSINE® should not be used on microbial infection diseases
since it does not have
antibacterial action.
