WHAT AXCEL CEPHALEXIN-250 SUSPENSION IS USED FOR Axcel Cephalexin-250 Suspension is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria. The infections that can be treated using Axcel Cephalexin-250 Suspension are: • Respiratory tract infections. • Ear, nose and throat infections. • Urinary tract infections: acute and chronic pyelonephritis (kidney infection), cystitis (infection of the bladder) and prostatitis (infection of the prostate). • Prophylaxis of recurrent urinary tract infection. • Gynaecological and obstetric infections. • Skin, soft-tissue and bone infections. • Gonorrhoea (infection of genital tract in men and women) • Dental procedures. HOW AXCEL CEPHALEXIN-250 SUSPENSION WORKS Cephalexin Monohydrate acts similarly to Benzylpenicillin. It exerts its killing action on growing and dividing bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cell-wall synthesis. However, it is now realised that other earlier stages in cell-wall synthesis can also be inhibited. Other mechanisms involved include bacterial lysis by the inactivation of endogenous inhibitors of bacterial autolysins BEFORE YOU USE AXCEL CEPHALEXIN- 250 SUSPENSION − _When you must not use it _ Do not use Axcel Cephalexin-250 Suspension if: • You are allergic or hypersensitive to cephalosporin. • It is not prescribed by a qualified doctor or pharmacist for you. • You are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or think you may be pregnant. • You are breast-feeding.
