K-WORM Choc Suspension 400mg/10ml
contains Albendazole exhibits vermicidal,
ovacidal and larvacidal activities. It inhibits
tubulin polymerization in anthelmint and
thus depletes their energy level until they
become inadequate for survival.
BEFORE YOU USE K-WORM CHOC
SUSPENSION 400MG/10ML
- When you must not take it
Do not take this product if you are allergic
(hypersensitivity) to Albendazole, other
benzimidazole derivatives or any other
ingredients in this product.
- Before you start to use it
Should not be administered during
confirmed or suspected pregnancy.
Use with caution during lactation as extent
of excretion from breast milk is not known.
- Taking other medicines
Plasma concentration of the active
metabolite of Albendazole is raised when
administered concomitantly with
Dexamethasone, Praziquantel and
Cimetidine.
HOW TO TAKE K-WORM CHOC SUSPENSION

To be taken with meal.

A second course may be repeated after 2 to
3 weeks if infestations persist or recur.
_- If you forget to take it_
If you forget to take K-WORM Choc
Suspension 400mg/10ml, take it as soon as
you remember.
Never double up on the next
dose to make up for the one missed.
_- If you take too much (overdose)_
Symptoms such as nausea, vomiting,
diarrhoea and abdominal pain.

PRESENTATION:
Bottle of 10ml.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS:
Brown coloured, chocolate flavoured suspension.
PHARMACOLOGY:
Albendazole is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic that exhibits
vermicidal, ovacidal and larvacidal activities. Albendazole
exerts
its
anthelmintic
effect
by
inhibiting
tubulin
polymerization.
This
causes
a
cascade
of
metabolic
disruption which includes energy depletion, immobilization
and finally death. The anthelmintic activity of Albendazole is
thought to be primarily intra-intestinal. When a higher dose
is given, sufficient amount of Albendazole will be absorbed
and
can
be
used
to
treat
hydatid
disease
and
neurocysticercosis.
Albendazole is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal
tract,
but
rapidly
undergoes
extensive
first-pass
metabolism.
The
principal
metabolite,
Albendazole
Sulfoxide has anthelmintic activity and a plasma half-life of
about 8.5 hours. Albendazole Sulfoxide is widely distributed
throughout the body including into the bile and CSF. It is
approximately 70% bound to plasma protein. Albendazole
Sulfoxide is eliminated in the bile and only a small amount
is excreted in the urine.
INDICATIONS:
For the treatment of single or mixed infestations of intestinal
parasites.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
For infestation of pinworm, whipworm, roundworm, hookworm.
Adults and children above 2 years:
Take 10ml as a single dose.
Children 1 to 2 years:
Give 5ml as a single dose.
For infestation of tapeworm and threadworm
Adults and children above 2 years:
Take 10ml once daily for 3 consecutive days.
To be taken with meal.
A second course may be repeated after 2 to 3 weeks if
infestations persist or recur.
SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE.
