WHAT IS MUCOXOL USED FOR
It is used for treatment in conditions
where
there
are
a
lot
of
thick
secretion or mucus in the air passage.
HOW MUCOXOL WORKS
Mucoxol
tablet
contains
ambroxol
hydrochloride which clears the chest
by
thinning
the
mucus
in
the
air
passage.
BEFORE YOU USE MUCOXOL
- _When you must not use it_
Do not take Mucoxol if allergic to
ambroxol or to other ingredients in it.
Ask
your
doctor
or
pharmacist
for
advice before taking any medicine.

Special care is recommended during
pregnancy.

benefits

assessed against possible effects on
the child.

HOW TO USE MUCOXOL
_How much to use _
Adults: 1 tablet 3 times daily. The
therapeutic effect may be enhanced
by administering 2 tablets 2 times
daily and should be taken after
meals with liquid. Mucoxol is not
recommended for children under 2
years
of
age
without
medical
advice.

Use
as
directed

doctor

Continue taking Mucoxol for as long
as your doctor recommends.
_- If you forget to use it _
Consult your doctor or pharmacist on
what you should do if you forget to
use it.
Take the missed dose as soon as you
remember.
If
it
is
almost
time
for
your next dose, wait until then to take
the
medicine
and
skip
the
missed
dose. Do not take a double dose to

MUCOXOL TABLET 30MG
COMPOSITION:
Each tablet contains Ambroxol Hydrochloride 30mg
DESCRIPTION: A white to off white colored round tablet with 9.1mm
diameter and a score
on one side.
PHARMACODYNAMIC:
Ambroxol hydrochloride is a metabolite of bromhexine, which liquefies
and thins the
mucus of the passage. By this ways it promotes the expectoration of
blocked – up
secretions and also eases cough.
Ambroxol has been shown to increase respiratory tract secretion. It
enhances pulmonary
surfactant production and stimulates ciliary activity. These actions
result in improved
mucus flow and transport (mucociliary clearance). Improvement of
mucociliary clearance
has been shown in clinical pharmacologic studies. Enhancement of fluid
secretion and
mucociliary clearance facilitates expectoration and eases cough.
PHARMACOKINETIC:
Absorption after oral administration is fast and complete. The active
is metabolized to
dibromoanthranilic acid under phase I metabolism and it is then
further broken down
under phase II metabolism to conjugates, predominantly glucoronides.
Elimination half-
life is estimated as 20-25 hours. Excretion is mainly through urine.
INDICATION:
Secretolytic therapy in acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases
associated with
abnormal mucus secretion and impaired mucus transport.
RECOMMENDED DOSAGE:
Tablet
Adults: 1 tablet 3 times daily. The therapeutic effect may be enhanced
by administering 2
tablets 2 times daily and should be taken after meals with liquid.
Mucoxol is not
recommended for children under 2 years of age without medical advice.
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION:
Oral administration
CONTRAINDICATION:
Contraindicated during the first trimester of pregnancy and in
patients who sensitive to
Ambroxol hydrochloride or to any of the ingredients of this product.
WARNING AND PRECAUTION:
Patients with liver and kidney problems must be treated cautiously.
Very rare cases of chronically associated severe skin impairments such
as Stevens
Johnson Syndrome, Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN), Erythema
Multiforme (EM)
