WHAT RASITOL IS USED FOR
RASITOL
works
by
increasing
the
amount of salt and water that the kidneys
remove from the blood. This extra salt and
water is then passed out through the urine.
By
increasing
the
amount
of
water
removed
from
the
blood,
RASITOL
causes
a
decrease
in
blood
volume.
Because of this effect, it can lower blood
pressure and help with water retention.
HOW RASITOL WORKS
RASITOL is a drug that increase the flow
of
urine
(termed
diuresis).
RASITOL
work by removing sodium and chloride
from the body in the urine and this helps
in reducing the blood pressure.
BEFORE YOU USE RASITOL

_When you must not use it _
You must not take RASITOL if you are
allergic to furosemide or you have renal
failure, severe electrolyte depletion (e.g.
hypokalaemia) as well as women with
childbearing potential.

Tell your doctor if you are taking any
other medicines or you have any other
health problems.

_Taking other medicines _
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are
taking any other medicines. There may be
an interaction between other groups of
drugs.
HOW TO USE RASITOL

_How much to use _
For oedema, the usual initial dose is 40mg
once
daily
and
adjusted
as
necessary
based
on
individual’s
response.
For
hypertension, a daily dose of 40-80mg.
Can be taken with other
antihypertensives.
For
elderly,
dosage
should be adjusted.

If you miss a dose of RASITOL and you
are taking it regularly, take it as soon as
