READ THIS LEAFLET before taking this medicine. Always follow your
doctor’s advice. If
there is anything you do not understand, or if you have any questions
ask your
doctor or pharmacist. This medicine is just for you. Do not give it to
other people
even if they present with similar symptoms.
COMPOSITION: AMPICILLIN (VOGEN) capsules contain 250mg or 500mg
ampicillin (as trihydrate); a bactericidal antibiotic, that belongs to
a group of
antibiotics called penicillins.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to any of
the
penicillins.
INDICATIONS: AMPICILLIN (VOGEN) capsules are use for the treatment of
infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest (bronchitis or pneumonia),
of the bladder
or the urethra, the kidneys, the female reproductive system, the
stomach or
intestines, the heart (endocarditis), the membranes of the brain
(meningitis), the
blood (septicaemia), and gonorrhoea (a sexually transmitted
infections).
PRECAUTIONS: Before administration, tell your doctor if:
•
You are allergic to penicillin or any other antibiotic, or you have
ever had a skin
rash or swelling of the face or neck when taking any antibiotic.
•
You are taking a contraceptive pill (extra precautions may be needed).
•
You have or you think you have glandular fever.
•
You are pregnant, or you might be pregnant or you are breast-feeding.
•
You are being treated for kidney problems.
•
You are taking other medicines (such as warfarin or allopurinol).
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Usual a
