ACTION
Metoprolol
is
a
betal-selective
(cardioselective)
adrenergic
blocking
agenl
Metoprolol
reduces
production
of
cAMP
from
ATP,
stimulated
by
katecholamines'
It
reduces
the
chronotrop,
dromotrop
and
batmotrop
activity
and
has
a
negative
inotrop
action
on
heart
muscles.
As
a
result
or
trrit
mechanism
the
hea*
rate
falls,
the
recovery
time
in
sinus
node
in*eases
as
well
as
the
re&actory
time
in
the
atrioventricular
node'
This
lead
to
atrial
stimuiation
and
protoogution
of
atriovenfficular
interval.
These
p(ocesses
simuitaneously
stipulate
the
less
cardiai
output
demand
of
oxygen,
and,
connected
with
these
thereafter
lessen
the
oxygen
necessity.
Al

Metoprolol
