1. WHAT VENTMAX IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
Ventmax SR Capsules are used to help RELIEVE the symptoms of asthma and
other conditions that cause breathing problems. The active ingredient,
salbutamol, is one of a group of medicines called bronchodilators or ‘RELIEVERS’.
Salbutamol relaxes the muscles in the walls of the small air passages in the
lungs. This helps to open up the airways and so helps to relieve chest tightness,
wheezing and cough so that you can breathe more easily.
The capsules are manufactured in a way that allows the salbutamol to be
released and slowly absorbed by your body so that you get relief over a period of
several hours.
Taking Ventmax at the same time as other prescribed anti-inflammatory
medicines, such as steroids, will help you to breathe more easily.

2. Qualitative and quantitative composition
Each capsule contains salbutamol sulfate 9.60mg (equivalent to 8mg of salbutamol base). For the full list of excipients,
see section 6.1
3. Pharmaceutical form
Modified release capsules, hard.
Size 3 capsules with opaque white cap and body, containing creamy white spherical microgranules, with "8mg" printed
in black ink.
4. Clinical particulars
4.1 Therapeutic indications
Continuous symptomatic treatment of asthma and other types of reversible obstructive airways disease:
­ in patients requiring daily administration of quick­acting beta
2
 agonists with a short duration of action
­ and/or with nocturnal symptoms.
N.B.: In asthma, the treatment with Ventmax SR should be combined with an anti­ inflammatory treatment, such as
inhaled corticosteroids.
4.2 Posology and method of administration

Twice­daily administration of Ventmax SR capsules procures a bronchodilator effect, which is maintained for about 12
hours after each dose.
_Adults: _The recommended dose is one 8mg capsule twice daily.
_Older people: _It is not necessary to adjust the dose.
_Paediatric population: _In children aged 3 to 12 years, the recommended dose is one 4mg capsule twice daily.

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients listed in section 6.1
