Contents of the pack and other information 1. WHAT CLOTRI-DENK 100 VAGINAL IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR Clotri-Denk 100 Vaginal is a drug used in the treatment of vaginal fungal infections. Clotrimazole, the active substance of Clotri-Denk 100 Vaginal, acts by inhibiting the growth and proliferation of fungal cells, such as yeasts as well as a number of other fungal elements and some bacteria. CLOTRI-DENK 100 VAGINAL IS USED FOR Infectious discharge caused by yeasts; inflammation of the vagina and vulva caused by fungi – usually yeasts of the _Candida_ genus - as well as second infections superimposed on earlier ones (superinfections) with bacteria sensitive to clotrimazole. 1 S UMMARY OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS 1. NAME OF THE MEDICINAL PRODUCT Clotri-Denk 100 Vaginal 2. QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE COMPOSITION Active substance: clotrimazole Each vaginal tablet contains 100 mg clotrimazole. For the full list of excipients, see section 6.1. 3. PHARMACEUTICAL FORM Vaginal tablet. White, bean-shaped vaginal tablets. 4. CLINICAL PARTICULARS 4.1 THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS Infectious discharge caused by yeasts; inflammatory vaginal infections where fungi are present - usually _Candida_ species - as well as superinfections with clotrimazole-sensitive bacteria. 4.2 POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION Posology Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is: One vaginal tablet in the evening for six consecutive days. The vaginal tablets should be inserted deep into the vagina preferably in the evening before bedtime with the patient lying on her back with her legs slightly bent up. The treatment can be repeated where necessary. However, recurrent infections may be signs of an underlying disorder that requires medical investigation. Where possible, treatment should not be administered during a period (menstruation) or should be finished before the onset of menstruation. In general, the symptoms of vaginal mycosis (such as pruritus, discharge, burning) subside considerably within the first four days after the start of treatment. If the symptoms have not subsided completely following treatment or if they have worsened, a doctor must be consulted. Note: In the case of a dry vagina, it is possible that the vaginal tablets may not dissolve completely. In this case, it is recommended that the corresponding clotrimazole-containing vaginal cream preferably be used.
